This session will cover the general clinical approach to agitation in the elderly with a specific focus on delirium and neuropsychiatric symptoms in dementia.

The workshop will include a short presentation, followed by a Q & A period, and, if time allows the presentation and discussion of three illustrative clinical cases

Objectives

As a result of attending this session, participants will:

• Discuss the differential diagnosis of agitation
• Develop a structured approach to the management of delirium and neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia
• Discuss when and how to use the pharmacological approach in delirium and neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia
