Lavanya Narasiah is a family practitioner working with refugee and immigrant populations for over 20 years in Montreal. She is the medical director of the Clinique des Réfugiés in Montérégie offering first-line medical attention to refugees and other immigrants that have recently arrived to Canada. Since 2018, she is a medical advisor at the Montreal Public Health with the Prevention and Control of Infectious disease team and with a working group for migrant and racialized population health. Dr. Narasiah is part of the teaching team at the Herzl Family Practice Center (Jewish General Hospital), an adjunct professor with McGill University and a teaching professor with Sherbrooke University. She is a member of the steering committee of the Canadian Collaboration for Immigrant and Refugee Health (CCIRH) and co-author of a number of publications of the Canadian Guidelines for Immigrant and Refugee Health (CMAJ). She divides her time between her medical practice and music. She released her album Dharani-Earth with colours from India, West Africa, Brazil and Latin America featuring over 30 exceptional musicians from Montreal and around the world (streaming on iTunes and Spotify). Her next album is soon to be released in 2021!
