General Information

Location

Located in the heart of downtown Montréal, the Hotel Bonaventure Montreal is connected to 28 km of underground access to the Métro subway system, train station, office towers, boutiques and restaurants (Place Bonaventure).

Parking and valet parking is available at the de la Gauchetière West Street entrance at the cost of $21.00 per day (self-parking) or $29.00 per day (valet-parking).

Badges

Identification badges are mandatory and will be required for admission to all sessions and the exhibition.

Child Care

The Hotel Bonaventure Montreal will gladly arrange child care upon request.

Climate and Clothing

November is a beautiful but unpredictable month in Montréal. Average daytime temperatures range from 5C to 18C.

Credit Cards and Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs)

Most major credit cards are honoured in hotels as well as in most restaurants and other commercial establishments. Credit cards are also a convenient method of getting cash at the many 24-hour access automated banking machines. These machines accept cards with PLUS, INTERAC, and CIRRUS symbols.

Public Transportation

The Métro is the name of Montréal’s subway system. Maps are located in each station. Running hours are from 5:30 am to 1:00 am. City buses run frequently and provide an alternative mode of transportation.

Airports

Montréal is served by Montréal-Trudeau Airport. Taxi fare from Montreal-Trudeau (Dorval) to Montréal is approximately $40.

Metric System

Canada uses the metric system. Visitors will find weather temperature reports given in degrees Celsius, gasoline sold by the liter, milk and wine by milliliter and liters, grocery items in grams and kilograms, and road speeds posted in kilometers per hour.

Shopping Hours

Stores, boutiques and department stores are open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily, to 9:00 pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and until 5:00 pm on Saturdays. Most stores are open Sundays from 12:00 to 5:00 pm.

Taxes

The Federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) (TPS in French) of 5% applies to purchases. In addition, the Québec Sales Tax (QST) (TVQ in French) adds 9.975% to the total after the GST is included.

Travelers Cheques

Travelers cheques are widely accepted at banks, hotels, and many retail outlets in Montréal. Please note that two pieces are required.
